Magazine Le Afrique Style Brazil launches the New face column with the aim of opening a connection with news faces and the international fashion market. At the request of our Editor-in-Chief Eliana Oliveira, who opens this space to present these new profiles of models to the fashion world of the African continent. Lírio Junior de Moçambique, for the international catwalks. Open your heart and tell a little about your trajectory in the fashion world on the African continent.

Born in Mozambique, the new face Lírio Júnior. He is a simple and dreamy young man, graduated in Pharmaceutical Sciences from UNIAC (Alberto Chipande University). He started his career in 2016 when he moved from his city, to live in the city of Beira province of Sofala where he was going to do higher education, ironically he went to meet a friend who was a model and introduced him to the subject of fashion, at the time registrations were taking place for the national festival of culture, an event that takes place here in Mozambique and brings together artists from all over the country with cultural diversity. I accepted the challenge, I joined the group and we participated, but we didn’t get to represent the province in the national phase, we lost in the provincial phase, but I learned a lot during the course of this same event. In 2018 we competed again, and went on to represent the province in the national phase in Niassa (a province in the north of the country) we went there, the 4 models and made history. It was a super top adventure, exchange with other models, stylists and creators… And when I came back I had the opportunity to be a trainer in a model course in the chair of general fashion notions, it was also a great experience that I learned a lot. In 2019 I received another challenge to be a design and make some clothes to wear models at the Mandoa festival at the invitation of Bresneve Matezo, which was also a unique experience, to be able to show my work through clothes… trust and opportunity. Because it was from this event that I never stopped designing clothes. Although not produced yet. And while I was in my last year of college in 2019 residing in the city of Beira, I saw an ad on social media about Fancy Fashion Week casting, a KLD agency event. It was then that I decided to do the pre-casting and I passed. The in-person casting took place in Maputo, I had to travel from Beira to Maputo capital of the country to participate in the casting, and thank God I managed to get in. That’s when I had my first big event. As for Fashion Week last year, I had another super top opportunity in my career.

Fancy is a super top event, which brings together great models, stylists, celebrities in fashion. Which has been a school for many dreamers like me.

Between 2020/2021 I also had the pleasure of representing my country Mozambique at an international event The Man Of The Earth. Unfortunately I didn’t win, but it was also a school, I learned a lot. An event with super different and modern dynamics, with 23 models worldwide, it was a real school, The Man Of The Earth was not just a contest, it was an event of empowerment, acceptance, and culture, it was a school for me. Which made me look at fashion in another aspect, on a more international level.

                        “I am a young dreamer.”

Today I live fashion not as a hobby, but as a dream. I have evolved a lot and every day that passes I learn something new. This is gratifying, I feel that I can be closer and closer to the people I love, people who support me unconditionally. To my family in particular who, after completing my training, realized that art has nothing to do with deviating from principles. It’s really a dream of mine, and today they are always there supporting me in everything. I thank fashion because I can communicate without having to open my mouth. I feel like I managed to find myself, fashion is my life.

I still don’t feel fully accomplished, I’m new to talk about this, because I believe I still have battles ahead. I only ask God to give me health, and with a little effort I believe that I will achieve my goals.

What to say; for those who are in this same struggle. To never give up, nothing was easy, but one day you will say it was worth it. Speak or think that no one will love your dreams more than you! So give yourself body and soul, that success awaits you.

A pedido da nossa Editora Chefe Eliana Oliveira que abre este espaço para apresentar esses novos perfis de modelos ao mundo fashion do Continente africano. Lírio Junior de Moçambique, para as passarelas internacionais. Abre o coração e conta um pouco sobre a sua trajetória no mundo da moda no Continente africano.

Nascido em Moçambique o new face Lírio Júnior. É um jovem simples e sonhador, Licenciado em Ciências Farmacêuticas pela UNIAC (Universidade Alberto Chipande). Começou sua carreira em 2016 quando se mudou de sua cidade, para viver na cidade da Beira província de Sofala onde ia fazer ensino superior, por ironia foi conhecer um amigo que era modelo e o introduziu ao assunto de moda, na época estavam a decorrer inscrições para o festival nacional de cultura, um evento que acontece aqui em Moçambique e reúne artistas de todo país com a diversidade cultural. Aceitei o desafio, me juntei ao grupo e participamos, mas não chegamos a representar a província na fase nacional, perdemos na fase provincial, mas aprendi muito durante o percurso deste mesmo evento. Em 2018 voltamos a concorrer, e passamos para representar a província na fase nacional em Niassa  (uma província da zona norte do país ) fomos lá, os 4 modelos e fizemos história. Foi uma aventura super top, intercâmbio, com outros modelos, estilistas e criadores… E quando voltei tive a oportunidade de ser um formador num curso de modelos na cadeira de noções gerais de moda, também foi uma grande experiência que eu aprendi muito. Em 2019 recebi um outro desafio para ser design e fazer algumas roupas para vestir modelos no festival Mandoa a convite do Bresneve Matezo, que também foi uma experiência única, poder mostrar o meu trabalho através das roupas… Desde já agradeço imensamente a ele pela confiança e a oportunidade. Pois foi a partir deste evento que eu nunca mais parei de desenhar peças de roupas. Embora não produzidas ainda. E enquanto eu estava no meu último ano de faculdade em 2019 residindo na cidade da Beira, eu vi um anúncio nas redes sociais sobre casting do Fancy Fashion Week, um evento da KLD agency. Foi então que eu decidi fazer o pré casting e passei. O casting presencial foi realizado em Maputo, tive que viajar da Beira para Maputo capital do País para participar do casting, e graças a Deus consegui entrar. Foi aí que eu tive meu primeiro grande evento. Já o Fashion Week no ano passado, tive mais uma oportunidade super top na minha carreira.

O Fancy é um evento super top, que reúne grandes modelos, estilistas, celebridades na moda. Que tem sido uma escola para muitos sonhadores como eu.

Entre 2020/2021 Eu tive também o prazer de representar o meu país Moçambique num evento internacional The Man Of The Earth (Homem da Terra). Infelizmente não ganhei, mas também foi uma escola, aprendi muito. Um evento com dinâmica super diferente e moderno, com 23 modelos a nível do mundo, foi uma verdadeira escola, The Man Of The Earth não foi somente um concurso, foi um evento de emponderamento, aceitação, e cultura, foi uma escola para mim. O que me fez olhar a moda numa outra vertente, num nível mais internacional.

                 “Eu sou um jovem sonhador.”

Hoje vivo a moda não como hobby, mas como um sonho. Eu tenho evoluído muito e cada dia que passa aprendo algo novo. Isso é gratificante, eu sinto que consigo estar cada vez mais perto das pessoas que amo, pessoas que me apoiam incondicionalmente. A minha família em especial que depois de concluir a minha formação eles perceberam que a arte não tem nada a ver com desvio de princípios. É mesmo um sonho meu, e hoje eles, estão sempre presentes me apoiando em tudo. Agradeço, a moda porque eu consigo me comunicar, sem precisar abrir a boca. Eu sinto que consegui me encontrar, a moda é a minha vida. 

Ainda não me sinto realizado totalmente, eu sou novo para falar disso, pois eu acredito que ainda tenho batalhas pela frente. Só peço à Deus para que me dê saúde, e com um pouco de esforço acredito que vou alcançar os meus objetivos.

O que dizer; para aqueles que estão nesta mesma luta. Para não desistir nunca, nada foi fácil, mas um dia vocês vão dizer que valeu a pena. Fale ou pense que ninguém vai mais, amar os seus sonhos do que você! Por isso se entregue de corpo e alma, que o sucesso te espera.
